The Essentials of Life: FOOD

Back in February 2012 we were coming here and working on the dirt moving and creating better access.

We were losing time though having to leave at a decent time to get home and cook dinner for the evening.  So on one trip to Sam's club we bought a new grill.

But not just any new grill.

The grill of all grills that will cook with propane or fire grill or smoke and even has a side burner!

yes, the grill is indoors... if you could feel how much air flow we had in the house WITH all the doors and windows closed... well, let's just say it was more of a covered pavilion at this point!
Our first meal on the grill and here at the new house...  New York Strip steaks, corn on the cob and steakhouse beans on the side burner in the skillet.
And our first place setting - on the drafting table the guy left behind.  It was like a little picnic.   Remember no running water and no electricity at this time....

The Coleman lantern was our only source of light as the sun set.  And we had some music on the iPad.
The Coleman lantern did a pretty good job.  The first light through the windows on our first evening!
This was the start of many picnic evenings here.

Of course we were still hauling everything in and hauling dirty dished home late at night, but it was worth the extra time we were able to stay and "play" as Dave calls it.
